According to the Macquarie Dictionary, culture stands for; skills,
arts, customs, etc., of people passed from generation to generation.
Society appreciates culture, as a legacy from ancestors. Hence, in
spite of current changes that have taken place, culture continues to
establish the definition of normativity in society. Australia has
traditionally followed a culture of heteronormativity; an unmarked and
unchangeable norm against which, all other norms acquire judgment
(Bhattacharya, as cited in Gill, 2006), these are specific norms
related to sex, gender and sexuality.
