Walelia2

Hello! I'm new, I found this site using google. I just started dating someone that has gender dysphoria. I have tons of questions... I didn't know about it when we first started hanging out, but they told me last night and I am just wanting to find more info to be able to support her however I can. I am a woman, but I'm bisexual. :) Thanks for any advice, and I look forward to getting to know people on the board.

Oh, and I'm sure someome will come along shortly and ask that you read the terms and conditions as well as the rules to live by...   right, mods?

I'm pretty sure I read them, but I will go back and do a scan again, just to be sure :)

Hi Walelia,

Welcome to our little family. Over 1800 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion. Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers.  Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now.  And it is always nice to have another member.

Hi Walelia, thanks for being interested and supportive. You will find every kind of contradictory and opposite opinions co-exist in the world, and in the end you have to pick and choose for yourself. You called her "her", so I do too.

My own answers for your questions might require that you get an upgrade on your education for neuroanatomy, endocrinology and psychology, and even then only the rare individual ever really groks it.

Accepting that some things may be more complex than the human mind is capable of understanding goes a long way in gaining peace in some matters. It's far easier to accept that love exists than to specify the peptides and other chemicals operating in the brain and loins which we define as "love". Some things you really don't want to know every gritty detail, but I will bore you to tears on minutia if you insist.

You have been "hanging out" for a while, and the other person is important enough for you to be told and for you to bother finding out more. I'd say that you both have the basis for a close friendship, lovers relationship. 58% of all normal hetero first marriages end in divorce, so there are no guarantees on what the future will be, but persons sharing secrets often have closer bonds than regular. "She" is far less likely to go wandering off willy-nilly because it's hard to replace what you offer, and you in return get a security that she will be there for you too.

Love is hard to find. It sometimes surprises you where it shows up. You never know when, or even if, it will ever show up again. Trans are people just like everybody else. That's the answers to a lot of questions that you might have.
