I feel like a drag queen when I wear dresses.

A very awkward, uncomfortable drag queen - and I have to wear a dress at the end of October for my friend's quincenera. >.> So that means I have to go dress shopping - with my mom too, which only makes it worse.
I would wear a suit or something, but I have to wear a dress and my mom won't let me leave the house in a suit. I asked my friend if she would let me and she said she wouldn't care if I wore a dress or a suit because she hates wearing dresses herself.

Anyway, when I wear skirts, dresses, and/or heels, I feel like I'm the most convincing drag queen in the world because I'm actually female-bodied.

Argh, I hear you.  Wonder if your mom would let you get a pants suit?  Even if it was femme-looking, at least you wouldn't be in a skirt.  You could show her some of the pictures of them on google images, some really nice ones there.

OMG I do too! And with me being a gay guy it's really not how I want to feel.  I'm not hating on drag queens btw I'm just saying.  And I also second getting a pant suit. Perhaps something like this:

Macy's- Calvin Klein Suit, Two Button Jacket & Pants
(The gray is a little less masculine then black and your mom might go for it. Or maybe even a white  suit?)

With this top underneath:

Macy's- Rachel Rachel Roy Blouse, Compartment
(I know the top is kinda femme but I was thinking your Mom might got better for the suit if you get a femme top.  And if you don't take off your suit jacket no one will really know how femme the shirt is.)

And for shoes:

Macy's- Hush Puppies Shoes, Huron St. Loafers
(Which I know isn't very stylish but it is pretty gender neutral.)

or

Macy's- Easy Spirit Shoes, Divine Booties
(Which does have a bit of a heel but a more masculine cut to it.)


I just gave you suggestions from Macy's which can be a little overpriced sometimes, but you can find comporable stuff at JC Penny's, Kohls, etc.

The few times in my life (after about age 3 when my mom pretty much gave up on putting me dresses) where I've been forced to wear one I've had all sorts of weird feelings. One was just a "wrong" feeling - like that I shouldn't even be in the thing - that it was something "bad". Another feeling was that I was in costume and I had to pretend to act the part. I also felt like all eyes were on me or something - like I stood out like a sore thumb.

Try the costume thing - might work for you to get around the awkwardness and embarrassment of having to do it.
