I've come to a major fork in the transgender road. There's no question
of which route I will be taking -- the more difficult one, of course.
That's always been the plan. I've yearned to get to this point for a
long time (and have learned much in -- and about -- the process).
Still, I am not without mixed emotions now. And I'm a little
emotional, too, which is a preview of what's to come, I'm told.

For the past four months, I have lived full time as a transgender
person and have been "blown away" by the acceptance shown by family,
friends, colleagues, businesspeople and the general public. I had so
much anxiety before the coming-out moment in April -- and, really, as
it turned out, most of it was for naught. Silly me. Lesson 1: Give
people the benefit of the doubt. Most of the time, they won't let you
down.
