Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess. Switched at birth by her father's jealous mistress, she was raised by poor but loving farmers and grew up sensing she was... different. When her true identity was revealed, she became a woman obsessed with reclaiming her royal self and all the fabulous things that go with it.

Sound familiar? This fairy tale appears at the end of Olaf de Fleur's genre-hopping, gender-bending, melancholy yet unsentimental new film. But it could very well be the story of any LGBT who went from oppressed Cinderella to budding princess the moment they accepted themselves for who they were, stopped apologizing, and started demanding a better life.
