Even though space was made available for a six-suite accommodation for
transgendered students in Calumet Residence, the pilot project was not
implemented this school year after only one person met the requirements. York
University added a question on the residence application forms specifically
asking whether the applicant was a transgendered individual
and would require a spot in a transspecific housing facility. "We definitely
made the effort to ask the question and were ready as a pilot project to
accommodate for transgendered housing, but in the end we didn't need it," said Debbie Kee, York University director of housing services, campus services & business operations.
