Who's the fairest of us all? The general answer is likely to run to a teen or 20-something woman whose photo finds a frequent slot on the cover of a national entertainment or fashion magazine, a web-news site or in the ubiquitous download ratings for images on the web. She will be fresh and young, slender, probably blonde (although brunettes appear more and more often) and when she speaks one will get the overwhelming notion that her education has been one solely devoted to vacuity. Is there a pattern here?

I imagine so. A pattern that will find this woman further and further devalued as she grows older. I suspect that People will not vote her The World's Sexiest Woman when she is 65. If she is an actress she will find her star-power waning before she reaches her forties. She will receive tremendous pressure from agents, directors, record companies and advertisers to undergo a number of cosmetic procedures to enhance her breast, buttocks, waist, face and neck over the years between now and her fortieth birthday.
