Brassard or Chet?

I've been thinking about which surgeon to go with for the past six months and now have it down to two: Brassard and Chet, and i was wondering if people had any thoughts that might help me choose between them.

The reasons why i'm thinking about them both are basically the same.  From what i've seen online they give good results and they have reputations for being conservative surgeons giving consistant results.  But its so difficult then to choose one over the other.

The differences are distance which is in favour of Brassard though they both would involve pretty long flights.  Language in favour of Brassard since my little french is better than zilch thai, though i'm guessing that language wouldn't be a big deal anyway.  Brassard's rehab centre also sounds a lot better than Chet's hotel rooms.
In favour of Chet is price even after including the extra costs, which i know most people don't recommend being a deciding factor, its just that as far as i can see Chet is a lot cheaper for comparable surgical skills/results.  And then theres the related benefit in that i could afford Chet (hopefully) next summer whereas Brassard would take an extra year of saving, so it'd be (probably) summer 2010.

So i was wondering what people thought on Brassard vs Chet in terms of results?  And is there anything else i should be thinking about in my decision?

It's difficult to pass up 24/7 nursing care with a staff dedicated to treating SRS patients. Absolutely *everything* is taken care of for you pre and post op, including lessons on your various tasks, being given your meds on time, addressing any complications or concerns you may have, wonderful meals, etc. And being able to socialize with other pre and post ops is very comforting, IMHO.

You can focus entirely on healing and what you need to do.

I'm not really in a place where I feel comfortable, exactly, giving surgeon advice.  After all, if what I say were to convince someone to go see Dr. X, and they then had a bad outcome with that Dr., then I'd feel a bit responsible.

But, I will say this.  I was thinking about going either with Suporn or Chettawut.  In the end, I went with Chettawut for the same reason as you: great results, and cheap.  If I hadn't gone to him, it would have been at least another year before I could have afforded SRS with another Doctor.  The fact is, though, that Dr. Chettawut really does great work.  Thinking back, I'm very happy that I did what I did.  We only live once, and though Suporn probably could have done a slightly prettier job, the idea of losing another year (by which I'm referring primary to dating, I didn't want to risk that pre-op) and at least another $5000 for a MAYBE prettier result seems nuts to me now.

Good luck, and I hope you make the choice that's right for YOU (this varies for EVERYONE!),

Personally i wouldnt feel comfortable too either but as for atleast chet one member has just recently had undesirable results on here and needs revisions, i find the whole subject very hard as it seems everytime i settle on a surgeon someone posts up how bad they are ect.

Suporn was my latest after seeing his work but now hes called bad by some and bassard is better it seems it just give me a headache as its a one shot deal. The whole surgery is a crapshoot in a way i guess however good that surgeon is.

There are yahoo groups hun that deal with this subject if you dont already know

Yeah, but all anyone on them seems to say is their surgeon is brilliant and all others are rubbish.  Which doesn't help that much!  And i'm not so sure how wise it is to be concerned if one person had a bad result since you could find bad results for any surgeon.  Though if bad results were relatively common i'd worry!

Thats just the thing that has made me really rethink my decision.  Up until now i've been favouring Chet.
But is this better care worth an extra $8000 and an extra year wait?

If money was no object, i wouldn't think twice and go with Brassard.
