Indeed, it is, as one could tell from the repetitive usage of loaded terms and phrases like "Great Depression," "meltdown," "apocalypse," "Armageddon" and more to describe the just-on-time cratering of the American economy. After the strange bedfellows in both parties torpedoed Bush, Bernanke and Paulson's so-called bailout, more than $1 trillion of market value in American equities disappeared in a single day. The Dow Jones average set a record for quickest suicide dive in a single day. Other indexes sunk to multiyear lows, wiping out years of value, and stocks across the board went negative like Ann Coulter. In fact, the only major stock that actually advanced on Monday was Campbell Soup.

No Bush has already turned America to a Police State. He has led with fear because he never had the ability to solve problems. The sad part is that the public let him.

The fear thang hasn't just been Bush; it's been the domestic policy in this country for at least the past 60 years. It worked well in WWII to implement the war and was used afterwards with the Cold War and since to implement any number of domestic and foreign policy projects our rulers have found dear to them.

Yep. The people in power have always known that war and fearmongering equals great things for them and especially Big Business.

America's got a long tradition of xenophobia and a definite totalitarian streak.  I wouldn't call it a police state just yet, though - things could get much worse.  Bush might be authoritarian, but he's not a dictator by any stretch of the imagination.

See what I mean?  If Bush could spell, it'd be easier and quicker for him to sign the execution and torture warrants.

Every single person who underestimated Dick Cheney got it up the rear without lube.  He knows power, likes power, and understands it.  He has no morals, no values beyond himself and his minions.  Where Bush failed at just about everything he undertook, Cheney never did.

And, you don't think we're in a police state now?  Try to fly anywhere lately?  Last time I flew I kept wondering if this was still America.  Some minimum wage jerk asking where I was going and why?  I told him I was a sex tourist, because I was on union business, and he is not in the union, and has no right to know any of that.  Now they want to check bags on the train.  How the hell do you hijack a train?  Really.
