LBrown@sovo.comhttp://www.southernvoice.com/today/index.cfm?blog_id=21645October is Gay History Month. Every day, Southern Voice highlights a person or group that has helped shape Atlanta's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. In conjunction with the Equality Forum, we also feature a video tribute to a national Gay History icon daily.
Local: Philip Rafshoon
In November 1993, Philip Rafshoon opened Outwrite Bookstore & Coffeehouse in a small storefront in the Midtown Promenade shopping center. Growing out of a community survey, Rafshoon's little bookstore took on a big dream: bringing gay men and lesbians together in a place where they could both build connections and celebrate the written word.
