I just got back from the doctor's office. He said he'd see what levels I'm at after the bloodwork report comes back and then he'd determine what level the injections need to be. I was so excited I could barely think! On the way home I had to talk to someone so I called Liz. She has the same doctor. Liz was almost as excited as me. What a relief! Injections! No more patch and that awful adhesive ring it leaves behind. He didn't even blink when I mentioned injections. And I had doubts

When he first saw me he looked at me strangely and told me to go to the back room. It's the same room I always go to. I haven't seen him in a while and he's never seen me en femme. When he came in with my file he looked at the name on the file and said "This is you, right?" I said yes. "Well you've changed quite a bit. I had to do a double take."

The exam went well and he seemed genuinely happy for me. He cautioned me that there will come a time when I can't wait, that these feelings will be so strong I will have to transition and that I need to make a game plan and follow it until I get in the time needed to be fully covered medically. I told him that time has come and I already have a plan. Then I mentioned FFS and he told me I don't need it. We'll see. He did say I needed to work on the voice though, something I know all too well.

Girls I can't tell you how happy I am today! Finally! Finally! It's going to happen! I can't believe it! I have to go. I feel a shout for joy coming on. Now where's the nearest rooftop?

I really dont think you need the FFS either but what do I know LoL.... Ive been told I dont need it but I want it anyways.  Shots have worked wonders for me, may not look it in the pic but thats cuz Im RE transitioning... 7 months on 6 months off, and now just over a month back on  :)

Best of luck and just be carefull with the needles... they hurt.  (but there worth it in my opinion)

I prefer injections myself
"Depo - Estradiol"

Ps the needle usually is BIG!
Will he be giving them to you or someone at home or the discussion as progressed that far?
I tend to give them to myself a task all in itself! on weeks I dont have an appt. with the wizard as I call the man!

Im terrified of needles.... Before I started doing the injections myself it would take upwards of 30min to calm me down enough.... and Id cry afterwards... not from the pain but the terror....

For some reason when I give myself the shots its nowhere near as bad.  Takes 3-5min includeing prep.... but I still cry and freak out afterwards.... but they work wonders. and its worth it.....

Julie,

I remember when you had decided that you would not transition, for the sake of others.  I remember telling you that your feelings may change about that, that I thought you had lived enough of your life for others.  It was such a sad and heart wrenching time.

I bring this up because it is so great to see the other side of this.  To see you moving in the direction you want to, and being happier than you ever have been, after losing more than you thought you would have to.

It really makes my heart leap with joy and it is so uplifting to see such a dramatic change for the better. You go girl!!!!

Love always,
Elizabeth

Thank you ladies! Your support and kindness is very appreciated.

Chynna, I will be seeing him this coming Thursday. He will give me the first injection and teach me how to self administer. From there I'm on my own, at least as far as injections. I will see him once a month until he has me at the right dose.

Elizabeth, Yes I remember that time well. When I said I'd never transition I felt a deep sadness but I had convinced myself I could never do this. It's been over a year since I said that and in that time barriers and personal objections began to fall by the wayside. The minute I decided I had to do this and that I was going to do it I reached a level of happiness I have never known. Life just keeps getting better.

As for needles, when he was taking blood I watched the entire process. I was fascinated at how the pressure in my veins filled the vials so fast! You probably think I'm a bit strange but medical stuff doesn't bother me. But I hate pain. I'm a big baby. So it will be interesting to see how it goes when I do my first self injection.

Julie, if that is your real picture, I don't see you needing FFS either. You look very nice, very beautiful. I don't know much about the injectables either, but like others have said, eeeeeeekkk needles. I will take the patch and rub ring around the fanny off twice a week. I'm really happy for you Julie.

Yes Shelia, that's the real me. No wig, no forms etc. I'm no supermodel but I'm happy.

Thank you so much for being such a sweetie.  I see a kindness and comfort in your eyes. You look so happy with yourself.  That's what I want too.  Someday I hope to find it.

Your doctor, Sheila and the others are right.  You do not need FFS.

Congrats on the hormones and your new steps on the journey.

You may wanna take someone with you so they can learn how to give you the shot. I found it extremely difficult isf not impossible at first trying to stick myself in the butt with a 22 gauge needle but thats just me Oh he gave me choices breast shot or butt. shot Im not a fan of sticking large sharp objects in my favorite assests so I choose the butt.

Julie,

From your pictures, I see no need to alter your face one bit.  Hormones will soften your features and skin a bit.  Your pics portray someone who is very happy.  That is probably the most important trait you'll need to move on with life.

You go girl!
