Ideas to help you guys raise money for surgery

So I had a really great idea a couple of days ago, but it won't work for me, so maybe you guys can use it.

Sometimes people put in ads for $5,000 or so to buy eggs!!! Donate your eggs before you get rid of em bros ! I know I am getting rid of mine, but they're a gold mine til then!

Unless you're really attached to them that's the way to go guys Unfortunately they usually have silly requirements like "no chronic diseases"  which is why I can't do it but maybe it'll work for you guys.

I'm sure someone's thought of this before me.

Problem: You need to take estrogen so that the eggs ripen. Donating your ovaries raw is pretty useless.

I thought this would be a good idea until I learned that it could increase my breast size and worsen PMS symptoms. It also hightens a risk of cancer.

I did think of this before starting T however as Elwood explained the risks are too high plus I wouldn't want any more E in my system than nessary!

Ha ha, when I read your post, I thought you were speaking of the kind of eggs you have in the fridge!

I have thought of this idea, but I want to start hormones as soon as I am 18, and you can't donate eggs until you are 21 or something.  If you are older, though, I would suggest donating some before youi start hormones, provided you are comfortable with the idea.

That's exactly why I don't eat soy anymore :\ I don't blame anyone if they decide not to do this, ESPECIALLY because of the heightened E and such

I'd rather just get a job. My chest surgery is going to be $8000... I think I could save that much in a few months. My dad said I don't have to pay any living expenses if I'm a full time student and do well in school.

Dude I have a job but I'm on my own right now/paying living expenses. I can set money aside but it wont be very much as i do not make very much. $8000 is out of the question right now. eating v. surgery....well i need to be around to have the surgery!

I've got 4 k in the bank but that's for me to get the hell out of here!!! Haha. I'm gonna need to raise money from scratch for the surgery. If I work my @ss off at work, I make 140 bi-weekly, so I'm not making very much minus $50 for groceries, $30 for sporadic purchases (pizza, subway, laundry detergent), $20 a month to get to therapy (public transit) somehow all my money disappears before I make it

Yup, just switched to Rice milk... I go for beans or hummus (soy-free protein tasties) the nights my family eats chicken. Beef and Pork are more likely to be male than chickens are. And, well, eggs are big ol' piles of estrogen right?

Oh dear god, legumes are a required part of your diet without which you could get ill. Even peanuts are legumes and most plants are sources of photoestrogens. It is normal. There has been little evidence to suggest that eating soy will cause problems with elevated estrogens in men much less in women. The key here isn't avoidance it is moderation except in the case of known reaction.

Awesome where'd you get your degree in Nutritional Medicine? I'd be interested in what led your professors to that conclusion.

I have no degree in nutrition, just most of my life trying to keep from starving to death from celiac's disease and spending too much time with GI doctors. Believe what you want but unless a person has a specific intolerance or allergy to legumes they are healthy part of the diet high in many important nutrients like essential fatty acids, folic acid and fiber. Considering the average western diet is horrible, I don't see any logic in telling people to avoid healthy food. For your average healthy person photoestogens present theoretic danger if it is your mainstay of nutrition. So have some humus one day, black bean soup another and maybe some soybean casserole the next. It is all about balance. Do you see what I mean?

I see a lot of people who eat the same basic ingredients regularly though most of their lives and those are the people with nutritional disorders. I can count on 1 hands the number of people I have met who eat a varied and balanced diet that have nutritional deficiencies and everyone of them has additional digestive problems that cause it. Meh I will stick with eating a little bit of everything.

Incidentally eggs don't need to be bad either. I eat eggs that a friend of mine raises on her little home farm and they are great. They are also good sources of nutrients. I do agree with avoiding animal or plant products that have been artificially grown with pharmaceuticals.

Lol. The "oh dear god" was a little dramatic, sorry I'm still laughing. I still eat beans, peanuts, whatever. I don't restrict my diet in that sense. I just don't eat soy anymore. I used to drink like 3 - 4 cups of vanilla/chocolate soymilk a DAY. So I'd say that's a crapload of soy, and based on what you said (if true) would probably have affected me. Then my mom bought me protein shakes made of soy and I added that to my soy drink in the morning.... Then for a while I used to eat a lot of soy patties, corndogs, etc.

I don't eat the soy meat anymore cause I like veggies and fruits, taste wise and such, so I just don't crave meat or soymeat or whatever.... I just don't like eating it. Not because of the estrogen, I just prefer real veggies over soy.

On another note, I'm vegetarian, and I don't eat eggs cause they taste nasty. >_> That's honestly the only reason I don't eat them.

$3500-5000 if you go to thailand, mexico or a few doctors in the US.  Brownstein's between $7500-8500 for DI.  I believe his keyhole rates are closer to $9k.

Okay, the "oh dear god" was a little extreme but I am glad you got a laugh. Yeah that is a lot of soy, but in fairness it isn't real soy beans. Most people don't eat enough soybeans to cause a problem. It is eating processed forms of soybean that allows people to over indulge. I know I couldn't eat more then 2 servings of beans a day.

I might have been a vegetarian too but for me if was more important to encourage treating animals properly then not eat them. I am glad to hear you eat your veggies I know being poor it is hard to always afford them. The egg comment was directed at Ifindmehere.

I still stand by my statement the problem isn't soybeans or even photoestrogens, the problem if it exists is unhealthy eating habits.

I don't know, I've fallen in love with my almond milk. Last time I had soymilk after I switched it tasted weird...greasy almost.

I try not to let being a poor college student stop me from eating right. I buy frozen veggies to put in my rice/pasta, and 100% fruit smoothies to have with breakfast each day. Right now I'm rotating between the Vitamin C smoothie and the antioxidant berry smoothie (blackberries, blueberries, etc).

Also got whey protein powder to put in my almond milk for gym going.

Again, I specifically mentioned that I eat meat and beans. Soy is thus not required. Back off my choices.

I'm not going to deprive my body of the nutrients it needs because of the rumors about soy. You could probably eat 5 pounds of soy and ->-bleeped-<- rocks before your estrogen count would go up enough to make a difference.

You guys are being paranoid.

I know staying away from soy isn't going to stop my period, so it doesn't make at all a difference. It's my ovaries that are the major offender. People ALWAYS call me she the week before my period. They can subtly tell the changes. THAT'S when you have something to worry about.

Brownstein's between $7500-8500 for DI.  I believe his keyhole rates are closer to $9k.

I spoke to Brownstein in person. On October 11th he said the average for keyhole is $8000. It has to do with how much tissue needs to be removed, how much anesthesia is needed, etc. I am a very small patient, my costs should be cheaper. It takes hardly anything to knock me out at all, and my procedure should be shorter. There isn't a whole lot of breast tissue that needs to be removed, and he doesn't need to try to resize my areola at all. The areola is not too large but is big enough to work with so he can see what he's doing. I also have not binded, so the tissue is spongy and healthy which makes it easier to deal with. I am an ideal candidate for an easy surgery.

I will have a consultation with him when I get the okay from my therapist. Then I can personally tell you what his estimate is.

idk where you're getting this number. the prices might be different in different places but i don't think anywhere it's that cheap. i'm in boston and the 2 well-known doctors in my state that do chest reconstruction charge about $7000 for double incision or keyhole.
i worked all summer and have $6000 now but i'm in college and living on my own in an apartment now so its real hard to hold on to that. i'm hoping i can get some extra money somehow and get the procedure over winter break... it dosn't hurt to have high hopes right?
