Just two weeks shy of the finish line in what must be one hell of an endurance sprint, Dave Noble wavers between buoyancy and caution in talking about Barack Obama's presidential candidacy - an effort he has served since June as director of LGBT voter mobilization.

Noble, who left his post as public policy and government affairs director at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force to join the campaign, marvels at the riches of volunteer support Obama is drawing from the LGBT community, even as he emphasizes that these bodies must be spread across "so many more states in play" in this year's contest and as he acknowledges that gay Americans always have good reason to be skeptical of election year promises.
