I got in a few ego-piercing comments and we laughed a lot more. He's a lot better at ego-piercing (what late-teen isn't?) and does a manful job at woman-bashing without meaning to do so. So he says.
The big discussion yesterday evening was a generational one about the word 'tart' which he had no idea was ever used in USA to label "women of easy-virtue." Have to admit that I wasn't sure whether to be upset with him or not after he explained quite patiently how to his peers and himself, 'tart' is shorthand for "retard."
*sigh* Yes, the ever-present need to label everyone something. Regardless how much teaching a parent attempts, I often suspect that peer-leadership provides more heft than "old-parent suggestion." Certainly for a seventeen-year old. "O, Mom, you're gonna love me anyway."
