I've known this married couple for about 10 years now.  My kids play with their kids.  I've been close to both the husband and wife, though hung out with the wife more just because her husband works and she stays home.  When I was married we all hung out; they are still friendly with my ex-h.

Anyway I came out to them a few months back, before I started T.  I haven't seen them since then though, but occ. short phone calls and emails.

I went to their house this morning so my son could play while my daughter had class.  Both were home (he's on vacation).  In addition to telling me I'm looking good, he said:  "I just wanted to tell you that I admire you, because this (meaning transition) takes exceptional strength of character to be true to yourself, especially in our society which is still so homophobic."  (he is in a trade and works with a bunch of men who are homophobic).

Just thought I'd share with you other courageous ladies and men.  As Marcie Bowers said in an episode of Sex Change Hospital: going to Target to buy toilet paper as yourself takes balls.

Get used to it ;)

By far, that's the most common reaction I found from people. I know we're "abominations" to some, but for the most part we seem to provide an inspiration to anyone (not just other GID people) who are looking for encouragement to pursue THEIR "impossible" dreams, whatever they may be.
