I was on The Michelangelo Signorile Show a little while ago and Mike and I discussed the role race and racism have played in the presidential election campaign -- the angry, hate-filled rallies, and the inability or lack of desire of McCain or Palin to directly address the sentiments that have been stirred in their most ardent supporters.

We both saw this coming (though the sheer number of incidents caught on tape has surprised me) it would have been healthy to take any of the examples below to broach the subject. If this now-very visible intolerant and quite frankly, uninformed and scared base of the GOP is where the party leaders want to take party in the 21st century they should plan to lose in future races.
