Court-ing the LGBT vote

All of these problems — and more — figure prominently in this year's presidential election. Yet, addressing these issues will involve a lot more political players than the next president. There is one area, though, in which the president clearly sets the agenda: choosing federal judges. Perhaps at no point in recent history has the selection of judges been more important to LGBT voters. Surprisingly, it remains below the radar in this year's election.
The Supreme Court began its annual term on Oct. 6. The next president could end up appointing at least two justices, most likely to replace the court's more progressive, but oldest, members.
