While this does not affect everyone, I though it should be known that Last night the Canadian Government easily passed into law, the new edicts permiting same sex marriage.  It also permits religious organizations the right to refuse to conduct same sex marriages, if it is contrary to their beliefs.  Most of the Canadian Provinces already permited this, now it is the law throughout the land.

It still has to go through the senate and be finally approved by the House of Commons, which will likely be in the fall, before it's actually law.

The conservative members of Senate are threatening to amend the bill. I'm not sure if they're a majority or not, but usually Senate just passes things and doesn't mess with them.

House of Commons vote was 158 to 133.
