I just started on efexor today (switching from zoloft)... Has anyone else had good/bad experiences with this drug?

Thanks!

Both times it was bad for me. Never again is all I say.

It didn't fix my anxiety problems plus it made me VERY hyperactive.

It's also very difficult to come off of the longer you take it.

Good experiences.

I found it really hard to get used to it (a lot of nausea), but I have a very sensitive body so maybe I would react that way to all medication.
I take a very small amount but it helps me with my anxiety attacks, I hardly have them anymore. I have used it before and thus have quit before, and while I was hyperactive for a week when stopping, not other nasty side effects.

Oh yeah, libido went down, but that's to be expected with anti-depressive meds.

Horrible nightmares where I mass murdered animal and people. It happens whenever I am on it and I have no secret urge to mass murder kindergarten students and penguins. Needless to say I won't take it anymore.

haven't tried that but my doc put me on paxil and holy sh*t.  I was hallucinating the first nite and was violently sick the next morning.  the rest of the day I felt constantly jittery and hyperactive, like really badly.  So they switched me to celexa and it really helps with my social anxiety and related depression.   I swear by it for me personally, its really helped with my grades in school too.  I have straight A's.  Also I haven't experienced any side effects other than being able to sleep without laying awake for hours.  oh wait thats not so bad. lol.

I have been on Effexor for close to a year. I have vivid dreams, but I also take seroquel at night to sleep and that can make you have vivid dreams to.

It is a drug that tend to make people more active, so it should be taken in the AM so you sleep better. I had depression that made studying impossible. I couldn't focus, I would read three sentences and couldn't remember what I had read. This helped.

I would talk to you doctor about checking your thyroid because Effexor can give you hypothyroid disease and since the symptoms seem small it can go undetected.

DO NOT just stop taking it or forget to get your refills. It makes you sick, nauseous, and your balance is totally off. My sight was not goo either when I didn't realize I need refills and was off for two days.

I also had a decreased libido, but it got better after awhile. I am on a low dose, but overall I like it. Just PM me or reply here if you have any questions.

Hope that helped!!  ;D

Seroquil is the best. It will knock anyone out like a light within 30 minutes and isn't physically addictive though you can develop a tolerance. A day or two without it is enough to reset the tolerance though. It is generally safe though certain groups of people can't take it. I only used it PRN but it is recommend at stable levels. It is a drug with potential for recreational use and at those level is quite dangerous. One pill was enough to drop me like ton of bricks and when I went to two I had vision problems. The doc tried it to force my sleep cycle but lied to me about it. In the end I dumped the bottle in toilet when another doctor explained the truth to me. It goes to show that even if you trust a doctor it doesn't mean you should ever blindly trust a doctor.

Oh and effexor messes with serotonin in your brain, which means some people respond with fatigue and others with energy. It is the difference between why some go manic and others get depressed. Either way tell your doctor everything that happens when you take a new drug. What may appear to be mild or inconsequentially might mean something to the doctor.

I do like Seroquel accept it can make me really zone in the AM and it makes me over sleep sometimes. I do have a greater tolerance. The worst part is the ->-bleeped-<-ing weight gain. . sucks
