What surgeries are required?

Hey everyone! I have been looking into starting T and changing my name etc. . . When I checked on what is needed to change the sex on my birth certificate it said I needed a letter from my surgeon. Is it required that a person have the top and bottom surgeries to change their sex on documents? Cause the bottom surgeries are not any where near where they need to be for me. I'm in Nebraska in case someone else has gone through the process in NE. Thanks!!!

In some cases hysto is enough of bottom surgery. Mine was changed in Canada with a hysto and top.

A lot of states require top surgery for gender marker change... in California it is required to change it legally, but your state ID gender marker can be changed with a simple doctor's letter... otherwise, mine wouldn't say M when I haven't had any surgery. Probably the best state, as far as gender marker goes, is New Mexico. They require nothing but that you fill out a form.

If you want right to marry, as well as people who are as welcoming as possible of who you are, you might want to consider relocating (eventually) to either the east or west coast.

I am thinking about moving to Colorado. I don't think I can go to any other state to change my birth certificate since I was born here in NE. I heard that once the sex is changed on my birth certificate I could married like any other guy. Nebraska creates a new birth certificate instead of just amending the existing one. But there is a possibility that my marriage would be challenged. Have you heard similar?

You are welcome to move here to Canada, just tell immigration that ->-bleeped-<-boy sent you Okay so that might not work but you are still welcome. Legal is entirely dependent on where and who you are. For instance here it can take anywhere from 2 weeks to in my case 9 years. Since I doubt you aren't underage with family actively fighting your transition, poor, finding SOB government workers and flagged political activist you probably won't encounter the same level of hostility. In the end once the right person found my case it took about 3 months from mailing application to receiving the last new document. Well except my bank, its free but free isn't always enough.

Marriage is totally different ball game. If Harper ever got a majority we would see a challenge to gay marriage and SRS among other things. We may still see it this term. In the states I guess move to Vermont? That is about all I know. I do know that marriages in both direction been declared invalid by the courts, many gender programs still require a person to divorce a partner prior to transition and many transpeople are legally married as we speak but because of their status their relationship could be declared invalid at any time. They survive by community acceptance and the wrong people not knowing. Hopefully this will continue to change.

So if I get a new birth certificate and change all other documents, social security numbers. . .bla bla How would anyone be able to find out to challenge it? That's what I want to know. .

Difficult not impossible besides you not planning on telling your future partner? Then you lose on fraud. If you tell they can tell whoever they want especially during a bitter divorce. Consult a lawyer when you get married or move afterwards. Just because the current place accept you as a man doesn't mean another area with different laws will.
