 Hello everyone - new MTF here - just starting HRT, yea!

Only problem is I'm an old gray mare  :D  Or working to that.

But better late than not at all.

New to this group, wish me well...   ::)

Hi Elizabeth hon, welcome to Susan's. Hey I'm 63 so I guess that includes me in the old grey mare category, although I don't have any grey hair yet. :D Another upbeat sistar. "hee, hee, hee."

Chrissty - Cindy - thank you. I was just given my HRT letter today - and am a bit high on life.  But there is a long way to go.  I have been aware of my situation since age of reason (age 6?)   ;)  I had one maybe chance to transition at age 18 - two realistic ones at 30 and 48.  Dummy me waited until it was almost too late  :P  But here it is - my new birthday (first medical step) - ha!

Thank you for the welcome!

I believe that with a good diet, having an upbeat attitude, and just being around for any that may be in need, I love being around people, life is wonderful, especially post transition. Then there is only one last venture and that is the discovery of oneself. Keeps me young and I believe I can actually will aging to slow down, every one thinks I am 10 years younger than my true age.

::) Cindy - you are 100% on all that.  I wasn't diagnosed (like I needed to know) until fairly recently - but because I have been taking hormones for a while (semi-legally - they were not black market), my theapist let me move to the first medical step.  I have been working on getting my weight down.  I am working on getting as healthy as possible (no real med problems now - but I want to tone up and get my cardio in shape).  I look about mid fifties, but am 61 - auggggh.  But I have a great head of hair (thank you mom) and good skin.  Yea!  Letting it grow - will take at least 18 months I think.  I hope that the estrogen might give it a little shine - never know.     So I am gonna go through my 'ugly' stage - but I can make that work   ;D

I do believe good diet, healthy living and keeping my mind mentally active and my body physically healthy and spiritually healthy and add the estrogen and having completed the physical transitioning 4 years ago by way of surgery had added much in keeping me fit.I looked ten years older before I started living full time, I was anorexic 85 lbs now I weigh 129 lbs. at 5' 3" that weight is proportionate to my size. Here is a closer pic of me.

 If I could look so young?  there isn't a smiley for purple jealousy -  :)

I am tall - but I understand being too thin.  As a boy - high school - I weighed 140 pounds but was 6'3"  - I am just 6'2" (shrank?) and want to be at 198 pounds at the start of my physical transformation work (working on it!) - or lower if it doesn't make me look gaunt?    :P I suppose it depends on how well I can rework my weight distribution.  I know I must lose and then regain to let the estrogen trigger new sites - and a male distribution is definately what I have now!  :-\   But I am hoping I follow my mothers and sisters in their body distribution, I have a good chance to have a rear end for once. [I may regret that later?]  The little estrogen I have taken has done wonders on my inside thighs - but I need to develope a slimmer waist (currentlly larger than my hips!)

That is why I need to tone up, I think - dear, if I were your size it might be easier.   ::)

See - already I have so many concerns about my body - this is rather new to me because I have been very much a female forever, but there wasn't much I could do about the body - I thought - til now.  Yea!!!  :D

Hey Liz,

You're not the only tall girl here either, I'm around 6'1" (shrank too)....

But the good news is that when we're older the HRT often has less "T" to work against so you should need less blockers!

I'm not on HRT yet, and I was quite shocked with the results of a short course of herbals I tried.

I tend to think looking for a good balance to the body is more important than actual weight, as we essentially have the limitations of a male bone structure to work with.

Good Luck! ... I'm sure you'll do fine.

Hi again Elizabeth, please don't fret. if you do all the do things you will arrive to the place where you will feel comfortable with and hopefully without to many altertions. I didn't undergo any alterations except for what HRT did, but again take heart. it may take a bit of time. Have patience, this whole transition deal  takes time even for the young. But to tell the truth the older you are it will take a bit longer for thee same result as a younger person, but you will get there.

I did, and I will send prayers that you succeed in getting what you came for. Just to give you an idea, you see the two perky little turkeys on my chest in my photo? 36 B? Well it took five years to grow them and 4 years later before I could wear a bathing suit without the  bulge between the legs if you get the drift.  :D

You will do OK hon.

Hi Elizabeth,

Just another old lady here.  I am 54 and been on HRT for eight months now.  Still not happy with the development but I waited till this year to go full time.  So I have a few more months to go.  Like at least 10.  And I am 5'10".  6' in heels.

And beware of our Cindy there she will keep you on your toes, or at least rolling on the floor.

Cindy, Hair spray will fix that bad hair day.  ;D

:D  Well I see I have a good group of people on this site - thanky - thanky thanky for the warm welcome!

I also see I need to work up a good photo of me... if there is such a thing.  I am not full time right now so I don't have any suitable facial photos - but I can remedy that, when I have some time.     You understand I have just started my HRT - but have been dressing how I feel for decades!  The only flaw is I would destroy my photographs - deep shame and all that  :-\  But now I am confirmed, so to speak, I am proud to be an American - oops wrong battle cry, proud to be a woman - T-woman really but a woman all the same.  ;D

So many tall gals here - thank goodness - I can ask all these questions...

By the way, my therapist says I look better in flats (she is a practical gal) but I love heels!  So look out world, you will see a really tall chick, err... old blond mare (Perhaps old brunette mare, who knows - gotta wash that gray right outta my hair) - walking the mall?   :o  My goodness I am still on cloud nine with the HRT start.  Please forgive me - I know about the difficult days to come, but I need to be able to remember back on these wonderful feelings of liberation.

Happy to meet ya all ! ! !
