My Mom just called after getting my letter.

No yelling. No cursing. No Transphobia or homophobia.

Just crying, and telling me that she loves me no matter what. She told me that she hated that I have been in pain, and just wanted to give me a big hug.

I feel bad for expecting anything else from her. I know things might get worse down the road with her and I, but that was exactly what I wanted/needed to hear from her.

I feel like I'm climbing out of a cave into the light of day. It's a nice cave... Big TV, comfy couch, etc... but still a cave... and the whole world is almost within my sight now.

Aaaaw.  That's beautiful. :) Congratulations on a good coming-out experience. :D

Don't feel bad for expecting the worst, buckeye.  Unfortunately, that's just being cautious and protecting yourself from hurt. :-\ But I'm so happy she was okay with it. :D

Oh that's brilliant. I'm so happy she reacted as well as she did, and hopefully your concern that things might get worse down the line turn out to be unfounded.

Don't forget the sunglasses so the sun doesn't blind you. Takes some getting used to, ya know? :)
