Wither the Gay Agenda?

Don't you hate fad terms like "tipping point?" Me too, but I'm going to use it. In the last two weeks the social and political diaspora that has been the GLBT community has coalesced into a unified force for action for the first time in I'd guess 15 years. The demise of marriage in California was juxtaposed with a national surge towards progress and human rights that made it infinitely more painful.

Yes, we've made progress. Most of us are out of the closet. Most large
companies offer partner benefits. Various gay rights laws have been passed. Various gay rights court cases have been won. Hence the diaspora. Many gay men and women have grown comfortable living in the suburbs and serving on the PTA. Others are content to live in the center of the city and carousing easily and openly with friends.  Activism? A thing of the past! And so much the better.
