Anyone else in this boat?

I wonder how many people with gender issues are from a strong religous family (None in particular, just generally)

My mother will speak about my feelings, but only because she doesnt want to lose the mother/son relationship. I can tell she is uncomfortable with it and doesnt buy into the whole thing. I even wonder if I was born with some defects in my sexuality that were covered up at birth and swept under the rug. She is very standoffish about that fact and I have had some major surgeries and issues in my "abdomen" as a child, though most of it doesnt make sense.

Can't you get access to your medical records through your old family doctor? If you're of legal majority, all those records should be legally available to you. It might be nothing, but I'd want to know.

Actually my parents told me they they got those records way back in the day and lost them in a move...I havent tried looking for them.

My wife is a pastor. Her only complaint about my crossdressing is that look better in her clothes than she does.

That said, my dad will make claims to religion. I haven't come out to him or my mom; part of me feels it's none of their business. Why should I give the homophobe someone else to hate?

They NEVER give you the original records.  At least they don't in the US.  You can obtain copies of them, but your doctor keeps the originals.  I'd contact them to see if you could obtain an additional copy.

Ask your doctor honey. Find out. Your folks have no right to keep your medical history from you.

Medical records given to family are copies. Go to your original doctors or better yet hospitals to get records. Find a doctor or nurse who can help you decipher them, as they wont make much sense in some cases. The only exception to lost records I can think of is the military, they tend to have one record that you carry with you when you transfer from one base to another, and if it gets lost your kinda S.O.L, though some of it is recorded somewhere as the army is good about doing forms in triplicate.

Get a copy of your original birth certificate. It will often have the name of the doctor that delivered you and that can come in handy when researching your records, as well as comparissons.
