Many members of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender/Transsexual community, also known as GLBT, were devastated when the results for the November 2008 election were announced. Though they were pleased at the prospects of what a new administration could bring, this joy was overshadowed by the fact that Proposition 8 had been passed. In order for Proposition 8 to have been seen on the November ballot it had to be presented with 694,354 valid signatures, and on June 2, 2008 it qualified with 1,120,801 signatures.

the GLBT community has the right to know. if they represent businesses, those businesses should be boycotted!

Jon Jans, a pre-med student at Lake Land, believes "Prop 8 and laws like it are just what this society needs." Jans also noted, "clearly, if there are states who are entertaining the idea of allowing this there is a nationwide problem. Now I have to worry about guys checking me out because the concept is becoming more and more socially acceptable."
