Silverton taught the nation a lesson last week. A Kansas clan of habitual protesters came to town to decry the election of Stu Rasmussen,who may be the first openly transgendered person elected as a mayor in the U.S.

The four protesters came from Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka — a small, virulently anti-homosexual movement led by Fred Phelps.
