Americans. In the past few years, a succession of big American names - Patrick Duffy and Mickey Rooney among them - have shown real talent (and genuine affection) for what is a uniquely British art form.  Antonio Fargus and Henry Winkler have taken to it like a journalist to a cliché; Rooney is coming back for a second year; while Charlene Tilton, Jimmy Osmond and Steve  Guttenberg make their debuts this season.
