Ice Crystals

http://radnichole.wordpress.com/2008/12/04/ice-crystals/So wonderfully various there's no way to match two as twins; yet, together they manage to make a magnificent display at 6 a.m. on a car windshield. Yes, this morning I was on the way to the grocery about then. But, before I left I stood and looked at the gathering on our windscreen. Light from the complex streetlamps glowed across and through the maze of crystals. One might say: heavenly. Were her feet not shod in buskins and her awareness tied firmly to the ground and the cold round her.
Still, for just those moments there came to me this realization that today I am tired. Tired of things transsexual, tired of argument, tired of trying to come up with yet another thing to blog about. Still, those crystals were just brilliant.
They reminded me of the wonderful diversity of the people I live among, write among, exchange ideas with on the Webz. Each one like a tiny star glimmering in the blue-black of a clear December sky after midnight. December, that deepest dark of all months cresting in Longest Night and the sun's re-birth in the deep cold. No wonder christians managed to wrest the celebration from my sisters many, many generations ago.
