Way to go CC...
ENJOY !
I remember my first time out shopping...That was way back in 1980....
It was really weird as I had just got myself into a mode where I so frustrated I really just didn't care if people clocked me....but I can remember what happened like it was yesterday....
Firstly I should explain, that I didn't have access to much female clothing as I didn't have a sister and my mums didn't fit; minimal make-up I scratched together; and although I had longer hair in those days, it wasn't really girly.
So the net result must have been a bit of a sight...trainers, tight cord jeans, a girly T shirt (the only thing I had that I could wear) covering a bra stuffed with tights, and a nervous painted smile....
..So what happened?.....Well, the first place I went was a busy back street shop.... I stepped out of the car with my heart pounding and nervously made my way in.....but, I didn't seem to attract too much attention (a couple of glances) while I was browsing the rails,...... and even looking as bad as I did, I got my first ever "mam" from the boy at the check out....Wow!

Spirits lifted, I decided to head for the main shopping area... I had stopped and was looking in a drug store window when IT happened.... Two 18 year old girls were walking by behind me when one said to the other.... "Hey isn't that a guy"
..... My heart sank, like someone stepping on an empty coke can to flatten it... I didn't dare move, but my ears pricked up, my brain searching for a way out..

... Then the other girl said "Shhhh.... she's probably just a lesbian" ......and they strutted on past....

..But then that was the 80's....

..Now like you say, even without the benefits of youth or HRT with a little attention to a few details, we can usually shop with little more than an occasional glance (which most gg's get anyway), or a maybe a knowing looks at really close range....
Still "closeted", so to speak, I would go totally nuts if I couldn't get a bit of retail therapy every so often...
