OUT on myspace?

A lot of the people on here I keep running into on myspace.

The profiles always seem to be like, "I'm (insert age here) MtF living (insert location here) (insert a few details of transition)
THEN they get onto the whole, "about me," thing.

No offense but, why bother being stealth in RL if you're out on such a public place as myspace?

Any of you like this?

Seriously though. Yeah, I think it's quite dangerous. I'm on Facebook, but totally quiet. I literally just have it 'cause all my family and friends keep in touch on Facebook, but I have no personal details or anything on there. Mind you, after my experiences with the family going South the last few weeks, I've seriously been considering FB suicide. What we do online WILL haunt us IRL.

I know SarahR, Janet, Kara, Elmwood, Claire, Jen, and Beth are all out, not to mention the ones who aren't even on Susans and show the same behavior.

I was thinking of mimicking myself, just to draw a bit of support and maybe some milk romance over the next few months.  I guess it's an easy way to just throw it out there, "hi this is what I am if  you don't like it don't talk to me" kind of thing.

well for me, it's because I'm at the point where it's time for me to come out and I'm trying to find others my age that are close by in my area. to be honest I was over myspace years ago and haven't signed into my own account in ages, but in the last few months especially, I've come to the point where I have to first be honest with myself, and myspace and susan's have become my outlet.

I'm not really sure I could be at the point where I am completely stealth, I won't even know that until I go full time. when I was younger I pulled it off ok, but a lot has changed in the last several years and I don't feel as confident.

I don't know, it's only myspace after all.

And in two or three years, when you pass perfectly (perfectly-er! ) and you're looking for a new job and they tell you no thanks and you ask why and they say ... welll, we googled you ...

I deleted my myspace profile when I decided to transition, so it is no longer googleable (is that even a word?).

That's pretty much my basis for it. One of the things is that in my personal "real" life I barely ever give out my MySpace except to friends, so everyone on there will probably already know about me anyways. The blog I put up there was mainly for the guys that message me all the time so that they know beforehand what's up and I don't have to worry about them being like, "WTF...why didn't you tell me sooner?!?" I can just say, "Idiot, it's in my blog. Take some time to actual read ->-bleeped-<- and get to know people instead of just looking at pictures and saying 'whoa she's hot, let me message her.'"

At some point it's going to be pushed down by the newer blogs I put up and I will probably just let it stay that way. At this point I really couldn't care less if people know or not, if they like me for me then it shouldn't matter. If they don't like it then I don't care to be their friends anyways. It doesn't define me, but it is a part of me that I'd rather not have to shut out in the same closet I've been living in my whole life.

Other than on this forum I don't post anything about being ts on forums or other profiles. Not that I'm hiding anything, I just don't think it's everybody's business. But that's just me.

I came out on MySpace to find brothers and sisters.  SarahR, eliza beth, Annwyn. Elwood and others are on my friends list.  And yes I have gotten some nuts that think I am the reincarnation of Venus, but I have them refer to my dating site.

There will come a time when I will delete it and start a sleath one.  But for now it is a way to find others.

And yes Simone, that is officially a word.  By the power vested in me by susans.org, I so make this the first word of our new world order!(wait... I was supposed to keep our world domination a secret... oops).

I think a few factors play in.  For younger peeps like me(20) in the middle of transition, I can't find anything wrong with letting people know something important abut us.  I also guess it would make a statement for all transsexuals.  "Hi, I'm Toni etc etc mtf etc etc" and present a life you're living just like any other human being, not the sexual predators some people view us as or the porn stars or the whatever.

So, I guess I'll be updating my myspace sometime.  Kinda seems stupid anyways that I have pics of me as I am now(very fem) and then list my gender as male still.

I have two separate myspace accounts, one male one female, testing the waters with my male account and waiting for all the people on the old female myspace to add my new one. Then the female one will be deleted.

My facebook is confusing, I'm male on there but I have photos tagged from when I was still in girl mode. I look a total different person.

I'd prefer it if people just saw me as a regular guy, I wouldn't out myself immediately by putting it in my introduction

I've managed to get a few deleted in the past, they must like you too much to get rid of you

The more hits your page gets the less likely they are to delete it, as it generates money for them.

My five cents:
My Facebook FL consists largely of my close real life friends and people from work.
All of whom know that I'm trans.
So why bother hiding it?
The reality is that for the majority of us, going 'stealth' requires something almost as drastic as moving to another country (or a distant State, for you Americans).

I had blogs on MySpace that talked about Serra being MtF but took them down at her request.  Also changed some pictures that had her in boy mode.  A lot of our mutual friends who don't know she's trans are friends with me on MS, hence why she asked.  She's not on MySpace but is on Facebook, and is female on there. 

I use Facebook much more than MySpace (as I told Annwyn, I really have to update half my stuff on there) but if anyone wants to be friends on either, just message me ^_^

i have three myspace accounts and one facebook..... people could guess by my friends,,, but i dont actually say im trans... the sketchiest part is a lot of my art is photobucketed under bethzerosix and linked to my boy myspaces.....with a little csi work coworkers could figure it out.

everywhere else i dont care if people know. just not ready to deal with it at work.   the haircut and boobs kinda give it away though...lol.
