Drew rejects 'gender-neutral' dorm proposal

Students attending Drew University next fall will not have the option of living in a "gender-neutral" dorm after officials shot down a student proposal, saying the idea had become too controversial.

The proposal, which students spent four years drafting, aimed to accommodate Drew's transgender freshmen in 2009 by designating a dorm where males and females could live together.
