Awwww... Issues much? :P

I've been vegetarian for a total of over 21 years of my life. I first became vegetarian when I was 17. Most recently, I've been vegetarian nonstop for the last 13 years. I spent 6 of those years as a vegan, but when I began HRT I went back to lacto-ovo. The reason was that as a vegan I depended greatly on soy protein, and I was concerned that excessive soy phytoestrogen might block my receptors from the HRT. I like being vegetarian, it feels so good to me, my body's energy feels good. Meat just does not look like food to me. I'm much happier without it.
Here's what I find about compromise--
don't do it if it hurts inside,
'cause either way you're screwed,
eventually you'll find
you may as well feel good;
you may as well have some pride

I like a nearly vegetarian lifestyle but I could never fully give it up because of the need for protein.
Likewise total vegetarian lifestyles out because of the opposite affect some veggie products have on hrt.

So I'm for animal rights but middle of the road and full supporter of the bacon sandwich.

You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant.

The idea that you need soy to get enough protein on a veggie diet is incorrect. I don't eat soy at all (they strip rainforests to plant the stuff), but I manage to get in about 60g of protein a day through a combination of pulses, seeds and nuts, along with the small amounts of protein present in all veggies. (on a diet of under 1500 calories a day - I average around 1300)

I'm sure the bacon disagrees. :P

each to their own hunny i couldn't live on nuts and pulses everyday.

I wouldn't ever eat soy products because of my hrt comment.

All i do eat is the occasional bacon sandwich, occasional being the key word and small amounts of organic free range chicken

Hugs honey. I just rag on meat-eaters 'cause, well ... hmmmm, I wonder why. Whatever the case, pay me no mind. ;)

Gods. I became vegan after reading about stuff like this happening. Seeing it is ... humankind deserves all the crap it's gonna get.

That was disturbing.

i couldn't be a vegan/vegetarian because i cannot dgest vegetables, and that is an important part of a vegan or vegetarians diet. personally i think lots of people are hypocrites, because at the same time they are puirchasing coats with fur on them while they refuse to eat meat, and that's worse than eating the animal, because you need to eat to survive. the only meat i really like is deep fried kind, otherwise i don't really like it, and thinks it's kind of just gross.
