hayden.

i was curious if you increased in height any at all?
i am, unfortunately, pretty short and would be whole-heartedly thrilled at the thought of growing even the most minute amount. :o

and yes i know t's effects do vary upon person-to-person and effects on one guy might not have the same on another necessarily; but i'm still curious.

thank you very much. :)

hey hayden,

Welcome to Susan's. There's been quite a bit of that discussed on board lately. If you poke through the threads this and a lot of other questions will probably be answered.

Generally, if you get on T before 18, or even 20 if you're lucky, you'll probably grow some. Otherwise, you're probably outta luck because girls stop growing around 18.

Mister

Not at all.  If your growth plates have closed, you're not going to grow.

hayden.

thank you all so much for your informative responses.
i kind of figured that when your body decides it's finished growing, t can't do anything in that department.

chris : 5'6"?! i'd be ecstatic.
i barely make five feet.

my father is 6'5" and my mother is 5'9" and i'm barely five feet.
i swear, this is some cruel joke. :P

I'm shorter than both my father and mother as well.  *shrug* I thought children generally outgrew their parents.  Oh well.  For the record I'm 5'4"; father was 5'11" before he destroyed his back and mum was 5'5" before the osteoporosis got her (and her mom has shrunk over a foot because of it *wince*).  I stopped growing around 16-ish.

I'm not entirely opposed to the small & cute thing, as someone said.  I just would like to get taken seriously sometimes and stop being mistaken for a young teenager.

On another note, I think Dennis said he went from 5'4" to 5'5"; but it wasn't long bone growth, just growth of muscles in his back that elongated his spine some.  Might wanna check on that though (Dennis??).

I didn't grow, but I didn't start on T until 25. My buddy, however, started his at 20, and swears he grew an inch & a half. I hit 5'6" at 18, and I'm still 5'6"... short, but there are plenty of guys who are shorter (natal guys). Only thing that sucks is my little brother, who's 18, is 6'5" and still growing, despite the fact that no one else in my family is over 6'3", and only 3 people in the entire extended family are over 6 feet tall. However, my feet did grow... at least one size, possibly two. I think it all really depends on your genes and age. If you're young, and people in your family tend to grow taller well into their 20s, I think you shouldn't have any problem.

I grew a little -- maybe a half-inch -- but I started T at eighteen. My doctor, who treats hundreds of transpeople, says she's observed height increases in people even older than I was. I'm 5' 9" now.

Nope, stayed the same height. I started at 42 though, so wasn't expecting any. I look a little taller cause I stand straighter, but I still measure the same. I went from 5' to 5'5" between 18 and 26, so not everyone stops growing in their late teens. There is hope for you young guys. I wouldn't have grown much more anyway, I think. My dad was only 5'7".

I'm 5'3" and don't expect to grow.  My dad is only 5'10; my brother is 5'5" and shorter than my daughter, who is 14.  My mother is only 5'.

I went to a conference a few months back and was amazed at the number of guys my height and shorter.  It would be nice to be taller but at 47 I know that's not happening.

Thanks for the clarification Dennis; I must've been dreaming (literally & figuratively).  Ah well.
