Being someone who's studied linguistics, who's been described as cunning, and who's practices cunning linguistics (    ), I felt I had to put my two cents in.  How about the Abstractine Islands?  And can I have a shallow reef called the Obscure Depths?  I'll put a dock on stilts and all the buildings will be boats.

Nah, overcoming phobia, at least conceptually, is important for me because I'm OCD.  Overcoming a phobia is like overcoming any other unwanted thought or behavior - it's why I used to go indoor rock climbing (I'm acrophobic as well).

Although that "sand surrounded by an island" definitely stirs up some Peter Pan imagery, there...
