THE LOSSES ON Nov. 4 sparked protests in cities across the country, and this energy has been hailed as the future of the gay rights movement. People are realizing that one reason Proposition 8 passed is because there was no effort to show people the faces of those whom they fear and hate so much that they voted to strip them of the equal protection of the law.
That is changing. In the crowd of 5,000 here in the District who marched on Nov. 15 were people of all sexual orientations, skin colors, gender identities and political persuasions, all proud to be seen in public in support of equal rights for same-sex couples.
