History is full of examples of women who have donned men's clothing and gone off to war or sea.
Undoubtedly there are more cases that never got noticed or recorded.
So, a question for discussion:
Were they early female-to-male transsexuals or just women overcoming gender stereotypes to attain a goal?
It seems to me that the deciding factor is whether afterwards they returned to female presentation.
