How can you compromise with someone who believes you deserve both temporal punishment and eternal damnation for just being attracted to people of the same sex?  That's a belief which fosters & excuses evil, and compromising with it is morally corrupt.

These people believe in an invisible person who runs the world, their time is pretty much up.

They're welcome to believe in their invisible person, but that doesn't give them the right to assault, imprison, torture, and murder other people - or kidnap their children to save them.

I doubt if he's on record supporting any of that, even if he thinks so, all he said was that gay people can't join his church, and exactly what's the downside to that?

I'm not so certain of that.  They are tenacious. Also, you would not expect them to exist in the numbers they do now.  Something is wrong. The universe is angry and it's allowing these people to have some level of success. You would think that their inferior genes would exclude them from breeding, nevermind actually infecting others with their loony tunes, and yet somehow they reproduce and spread their culture.

What gives?

Well, if Gay people can't join his church, then how will they be able to worship the Lord Frog at his feet while marveling at the rev's laid back Mr. Rogers persona?   Also, isn't precluding gays from his fantastic and heavenly ceremonies giving them no one to turn to in order to learn hetero-ness as the one true way of life?

Oh those poor gay people. Now they are locked out in the wilderness with no mentor to straighten them out.

I'm going to cry.  *sob*

QuoteHow can lesbians and gays take passes from straight people and not erupt in outcry then?

Because there is a time and place to make passes. It is not in the work place or public places. They would not go into a gay bar because they do not agree with the culture just as a gay should observe heterosexual culture in their meeting places.

Quotegays are immature and slutty

He is referring to gays believing it is alright to declare open season, anytime, anywhere. A mature person would recognize the proper time and place. I am not saying all gays do this but the numbers are large enough to cause defensive arguments. We can all not determine what other's culture should be but we can respect the things they do in private. I do think that it can work. Just as the middle east culture has practices that go against most western standards but they can live in peace among us.

His church is his. Why would you want to go there? You can make your own church. It seems that you can not let his culture practice in their private place.

People can believe anything they want. It is the action they take on behalf of their beliefs that can be deadly. Beliefs are OK, harming someone is not.

what if I believe that harming someone is okay?

QuoteSo when I'm minding my own business walking down the street, and a carload of males whistle and call out to me, that's perfectly acceptable?

You know as well as I that is "immature and slutty".

Rick Warren would condemn that also. And if he could make it against the law he would. I fact in some places it is against the law.

There is a very large, and very public aspect to gay male culture that advocates and supports large amounts of more or less casual, indiscriminate sex, often in pubic and semi-public places like bathouses, clubs, theaters, and bars.  Most large gay areas like Boys Town in Chicago have places that are pretty much set up for crusing and not much more.

Just as heterosexual sex shops are against the law in many places. Their culture as well as many cultures believe sex is a private thing and should not be made public.

QuoteWell, let me know when he gets to the part where I have to walk 3 paces behind the men and not speak unless I'm spoken to.

Try the middle east.

Or a lot of the Orient.  It's still like that in many places.  In the Mideast, you're often not even going to find women on the streets at all, much less paces behind.

If that was all he did. These people are not going Amish-like and minding their own business, they try to influence society and culture at large bend to their ideas, and that is the real problem. He can be as much of an idiot delusional bigot as he likes in his "private place" and all his little buddies, but you know this is a much wider movement.

This is a straw man honestly. He thinks that all homosexual behaviour is wrong and should be outlawed, not just the public aspect of it.

Just as the gays think it is right and should be public. The compromise is to have all the legal rights but keep it private.  Neither side wants to step back from extremes and will fight till one dies.
