20 minutes waiting for a bus in the freezing cold and driving rain is a pain.

Wait till you try riding in it.

I think you're all nuts. Bikes freak me out. Lots.
They're really pretty though. Wish I had the guts to go near one.
Mina.
I stayed away from bikes for 38 years. When I went back to school a friend suggested taking the riders course to get back into the classroom thing. The rest,, in the rear view mirror getting smaller quickly.

I was going to get a cruiser, but the K11 (used) was in the showroom for about $4K less than the cruisers I was looking at. And insurance is less than for sportbikes. It seems the paper pushers think only conservitive geezers ride BMW's.

It has to do with theft rates for BMW, there is little to no market for used parts, so they don't get jacked like H-Ds and Hondas do.

That's a very comforting thought.

Well I would think the big cruisers have a slightly lower rate then the crotch rockets (also called, sucicyles and donorcycles in California) and people are not tempted to drive as fast on them, and they handle like an ox in heat, so that kind of 'right on the edge' stuff is right out too.

My mom uses those terms, she lives in Ridgecrest, Ca.
She has always expressed concern for my riding.

Ridgecrest, gateway to Trona?  I have an interesting story about that place, and the CLNWTC.

But I got to the point where I no longer trusted the other people on the road.

I've never been to Ridgecrest, maybe this spring. I need to visit my ma. I googled Trona, so I guess Yes is the answer.
Couldn't readily find info on CLNWTC, what's that?
Trusting OP is why I'm not riding much w/o medical coverage, which is a bummer. My gf loves riding.

China Lake Navel Weapons Testing Center - its right there in Ridgecrest.  Or. more to the point, its this huge thing outside of Ridgecrest.  But go north from there and take Hwy 190 into Death Valley, its a great ride.

One definitely must keep there wits about them when riding that's for sure.  I've had a couple of close calls myself because other motorist don't see us, but luckily I was "Seeing" and avoided a collision.

Personally I love the freedom that riding brings.  It is also a great way to meet people from all walks of life.  And yes I love the attention I get when I'm dressed in a black bra, leather vest, jeans, chaps, and boots.  While lady riders are nothing new we still get the looks some good some bad but what the heck I love to ride.

I-190 looks like a sweet ride. GoogleMaps, gotta love it! From a mile up it looks almost as twisty as the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire, but longer. Maybe i can rent a ride if'n I get there,,

I wish there were places like that close to here to ride....Heck id settle for just being able to ride for more then a few months out of the year.

Yeah, and the entire Death Valley trip is pretty cool too, but we used to do it on trail bikes so we could get back to all the old mines and ghost towns.  Just don't do it in the middle of summer, can get up to 140 degrees F surface temps.

Adventure bike/ dual sport is on the shopping list. I've had the K11 over babyheads, throught pastures and across a 2 foot wide 300 foot long ridge to find campsites. I'd post an image, but there on my PC some 30 miles away.

I know that when gas rates were high it was almost impossible to find a scooter around here.
