So, I've got really stubborn facial hair and I'm not in a position to get laser/electrolysis for awhile. I purchased some facial depilation cream today and tried it with less-than-satisfactory (actually, almost non-existent) results.

Do you think I should give it another try tomorrow, or am I stuck with the dreaded razor?

that stuff is designed to work after many uses, if there was an an instant permanent hair removal method, it would be big news! but unfortunatley we don't have such a thing.

there are some prescription strength creams that some have had decent results, but it's not permanent and you have to continue treating even after your beard is cleared (vaniqua is one that comes to mind).

i've been using a lotion that impedes hair growth for a couple years now and it has slowed growth, but not completely stopped hairs from growing. I had to stop using it on my face, becuase I am going through laser right now and I don't want to slow any hair growth so that it is actively growing during treatment. keep this in mind if you decide to get laser later on down the road (doesn't apply to electro)

wait a second, are we just talking about nair and the like? if so, I never had good results with that on my face and in many cases my face was worse off than if I just had a beard (chemical burns suck!).

Chemical burn is right it will remove the skin before it even affects one facial hair for your effort. Vaniqa is a good product it don't remove the hairs but thins them out so that they are not visible anymore. Takes about two months applying it twice a day before you get noticeable results, but it works. No more five O'clock shadow and no more scruffy stubble. Costs USD $65.00 for a 30 gram tube, if properly used a tube lasts a month.

A lot of the facial ones (like nair) won't work very well for thick masculinized hair, unfortunately. Even body ones don't work that well. They work alright on fine hair, and that's about it (in my experience). It's easy to get chemical burns from the creams, too.
