The cross-dressing Harvard-educated millionaire dermatologist who murdered his wife in their North Shore home in 2000 was found dead in his cell at MCI-Norfolk last night hanging from his bed, prison officials tell the Herald.

Dr. Richard Sharpe – who was also charged with hatching a plan to escape from jail shortly after he was charged with murder – was found in his cell at 7:26 p.m. last night, said Department of Correction spokeswoman Diane Wiffin.

Sharpe's cellmate yelled, "Richie hung it up! Richie hung it up!" when he returned to their bunk to see the doctor dangling from the top bed post with a bed sheet wrapped around his neck, a source tells the Herald.

I am amazed to see that headline.  His death, his time in prison, the murder he committed, his attempt to hide.... none of those things had anything to do with cross-dressing.  So why splay it across the title?

Because the media wants to make sure our "community" is seen as nothing but perverts and common criminals basically, i seriously see no other reason for it. it really can't  be because every single reporter in the world doesn't or want to understand, maybe i'm wrong?

those that want to disgrace themselves with criminal behaviour, i don't associate with personally, nor would i necessarily immediately admit to them being part of our community. people control their own actions, not the media, but when someone commits a criminal act and they find out they have a trans past for some reason in their mind they want to link that behaviour with our "community" because in some people's minds they think that it justifies people getting what they deserved, when a lot of the time it is just lack of tolerance and understanding.
