Quotebelieve that 2009 will be a huge year for transpeople.  Part of it is the momentum we've been gaining and part of it is just a "feeling".  People sometimes ask me if I would have transitioned 20 years ago if I could have and the answer to that is "no".  Life for transpeople at that point was significantly different than it is today and I don't know that I could have managed the hardships.  Besides just not being ready at that age I don't believe my quality of life at that point would have been near what it is for me today.  This is truly an amazing time.

That's not to say all is rosy. Not by a long shot. There's an article worth reading in the Minneapolis newspaper about some of the challenges that transpeople experience because the system isn't necessarily built to handle us
