So basically when I had left I had just been through a wicked motorcycle crash involving my getting t-boned at 40mph with me going somewhere around 90-120.

Just thought I'd post some pics of how my face is healed, it's slightly crooked for now, the doc says that the swelling will go down after a few months.

That is why highways have no crossroads. People can not see cycles as it is, hence the need to have the headlight on. At those speeds you can pop up from nowhere as people driving need only 20/40 vision. You were very lucky or just had ffs.

I think in a real city your at a lot more risk, more morons, more distractions, less room to avoid a problem - and every car, every truck is a problem.  I was cool on the bike when I was in Iowa, riding backroads straight as an arrow, flat enough to see miles ahead, but in SF, no way.

Things have actually been much safer for me in the city.  Traffic is traffic is traffic, there's no unpredictables except stupidity of other drivers which is easy to calculate.  Also toning down on the speeding and not cutting lanes and pulling stunts just to piss people off has a large part to do with it as well.
Within the two weeks befoer I moved I had been pulled over over 5 times.
Not once since I moved.

I guess I can honestly say getting t-boned scared the crap out of me enough that I learned a lesson.
