So far, Hernandez has told only a few family members -- his mother, but not yet his father -- and his friends about his sexuality.

"My family is very open, but because I also have someone who's transgender in my family, I think all the people ahead of me who came out ... made it easier for me," Hernandez said.

Hernandez has a large, extended family and feels it is unnecessary to confront all of them with his sexuality. "I know they're going to end up knowing, but I'm at a point where there's so many people to tell that I don't really care. If they find out, they find out," he said.
"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." Oscar Wilde
