Congrats girl  :-* (I already knew that).  But now my suggestion is moot, at least in this state.  :-\

Way to go sandy.

I must admit I have not changed by Birth certificate yet.  But I've done everything else including the passport.  One of these days I'll get around to sending a packet back to Georgia.  But with the Passport and everything else I'm pretty happy.

Congratulations to you, Sandy!  I know how I felt when my new birth certificate arrived.  It simply declared the truth, as you have said, and it showed it recorded as an original record, not an amendment or correction.

Good going!

Yes, it was a bittersweet moment.  Not only did I receive my revised Birth Certificate, but Pat's divorce papers showed up the same day.

We were planning to get married as soon as her divorce became final.  I had thought that my request to change my gender had been lost in the bureaucratic labyrinth of the State of Illinois.  And since my amended certificate still listed me as a male we were going to go for a marriage license.  Now we'll have to wait for Illinois Domestic Partnership law to pass.  But now with the brouhaha with our allegedly corrupt Governor it may be a while before legislation here gets back on track...  >:(

Your kidding right?  These people are making Louisiana look upright.  They got him on like 24 federal charges.  Where are the last two Govs?  In jail right?  Walker and Ryan, and Powell.  4 Illinois govs in the last 35 years have done jail time after holding that job.

Yes!  It is an ORIGINAL!  Nowhere on the form does it say amended!  Note the word "Original" in the upper right!

Here is a sanitized version of the form:

Without hijacking my own thread too much, accusations do not imply conviction.

Yes, on the surface, 24 possible indictments does seem much more than just circumstantial evidence.  And yes three out of the last 4 guvs have spent time in the hoosegow (all of which I voted for  :embarrassed:).

However, until properly indicted, and convicted, calling him corrupt (well *more* corrupt than your average pol), is not considered truthful.  And were I a professional journalist, I could get well nigh sued if I missed putting in that little adjective.

BTW:Please feel free to continue with the congratulations!

Federal cases tend to be different, and Fitzgerald's record is nothing I would want to go up against.  Its not like the first Gov he's stuck in prison.  Hell, he got Cheney's guy Libby convicted, in DC, which I thought was amazing.  But read up on his record.  He is really one of the good guys.  And, for and Chicago Pol (Obamba included) I tend to think they are guilty until proven innocent.

congrads by the way.

Did I miss something?  Has anything like that been presented to the legislature or even talked about seriously?  ???

Actually, yes.  Illinois House Bill 1826 is the civil unions bill.  And actually addresses more than same sex couples but additionally other domestic partner arrangements such as two retirees who might live together, but cannot get married or will lose their Social Security benefits and such.  Here is my blog entry on it.  In there it points to the relevant state legislator sites and the civil union website itself.  It was hoped that it could be voted on this year, but now...

It has been reviewed in committee and is nearly ready for a senate debate and vote.  Considering the other equal rights laws in Illinois, it is anticipated that this will pass pretty easily.  But of course once the the fundies get wind of it anticipate as much crap as hit California.
