Bishop Gene Robinson delivered the invocation for the Obama inaugural concert called We are One. Bishop Robinson's speech was delivered minutes before HBO began its live broadcast of the concert with featured Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen, Garth Brooks, Stevie Wonder, Denzel Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Jack Black, Tom Hanks, Gay Men's Chorus of Washington and many others.

I attended the concert, but Bishop Robinson's speech was largely inaudible because of mic/speaker problems.

After the jump is the full text of Bishop Robinson's speech.

A worthwhile read -- way to go Bishop!

It does certainly seem like a slap in the face how it was handled. Of course, the symbolism is way less important than what's ahead ... but I'm not holding my breath for any useful action on LGBT rights from the federal government.
All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.

In reading the right wing blogs, they were much more offended by the Gay Men's Chorus of D.C. then by Robinson.  What concert needs a prayer anyway?  What's is it Stryper?  No one is going to listen to the other guy either.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...
