The Boston City Council today passed a resolution sponsored by Council President Mike Ross supporting transgender rights.

"Transgender people throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts face heightened levels of discrimination and loss in employment, housing, education and refusal of basic public accommodations," states the resolution. "All citizens of the Commonwealth deserve equal protection against discrimination and violence. This body supports the inclusion and equal treatment of all citizens, irrespective of their sexual orientation, throughout the Commonwealth."
