"Excerpt: According to a search warrant affidavit, on April 29,
Jeremiah Berry confessed to police. He said that on or about Feb.
19, his father told him that God instructed him that his son needed
to get a sex change and become his wife, according to the affidavit
obtained by the Journal."

Horrid, poor child. The guy had it coming but he screwed up his boy's life in the process.
Interesting that nowadays God instructs religious zealots to perform sex changes on their kids though. Kind of like the idea that in antiquity we saw angels and now we see flying saucers.
Sad :(

What the son did, 199 stabbing!!!!, dismemberment! makes me doubt the veracity of
the whole story about the father.

Since the father's dead, how can this be refuted?

The son seemingly was very very disturbed prior to this.

Even if the father did this (who knows really)
it still takes a perturbed mind to kill in such a way

I agree. It's easy to villianize the victim after the fact.

Then again, overkill is very common among victims of abuse who kill their torturers.  They get to a point where they have been frightened for so long that the abusive parent takes on a "bigger than life" presence in their minds, and they actually believe that the person will get up and come after them, long after that person would have actually been dead.

Besides which, if it is true, how could you expect the son to be anything but very disturbed?
