I had my surgery at 54. I started about 48/49 I really didn't think I would pass either but I got to a point where it didn't matter and from what I understand, people know me a female and not male. I believe it too.

I say do it now while you can. I started transition at 48. I'll have SRS in 5 months, and didn't think I could pass without FFS. My experience has been totally positive and I pass all the time, it doesn't really matter anyhow, because I'm happy now. :)
