Last week I won third prize with the American Laser Center. and was awarded a $300.00 coupon off Laser hair removal. I haven't found out how much they charge per session, but I will when I have my free consultaion. Now most of you girls have had laser hair removal done and some electrolysis, now I was wondering if it's cheaper  to go to a clinic to have it done or a dermatologist? BTW, approximately how many sessions should I expect to have?

Prices vary *widely*, and I mean REALLY vary depending on location - they'll charge whatever they think they can get. One of the first questions you'll be asked is, "soooooo, what do you do for a living?" as part of the casual conversation, lol.

Think of them like car salesman - you can usually negotiate them down a LOT from the initial quote.

I've heard of everything from $100 to $500 per session. My area averages around $450 per session (called around 5 places), but that's VERY high from what I hear. It's just a fluke of my geography.

They usually press you to buy a "block" of six sessions at once, at a reduced per-session price. You can usually get the reduced price anyway though, paying as you go, if you whine and complain like I did ;)

Most will suggest six sessions are needed, spread roughly one month apart. Many TSs have told me they've needed 8-20 sessions to get nearly totally clear though. 90% of my beard fell out 11 days after the first session, and it's stayed that way so far through session #4. Between sessions, the last hairs to be zapped fall out while new small patches appear, so it stays at that 90% overall gone level.

First of all, I'm using American Laser Centers for my hair removal and I am happy so far.

Second, I would recommend any TS purchase the package.  As Kate said, it could be from 8-20 sessions and usually there is a guarantee with the package that includes these additional sessions.  I was able to negotiate doing it in payments and so for the first 4 sessions, I'll have to put down about $400 (2 sessions so far done) and then it's paid for and I have free hair removal from that point on.  Now that I've cleared many of my hairs, I realize that I'll have to clean up a bit with electrolysis on some light colored hairs, but it's minimal.

Thanks Kate and Melissa for  your input.
Yesterday I was looking through their website information, and I found that their guarantee doesn't start until after the six session, and they do suggest that a person does have at least fifteen session before they'll start to see some real results. The closest clinic is four hours from where I live, so I contacted them and told them about the distance problem. They told me that they would put my $300.00 coupon on file and that I could wait until they have a clinic that is closer. They do sound pretty good. Two months ago I had went to a plastic surgeon, and he quoted me a price of $7000.00 for my back, front and face in six sessions. I'll see what I can do with the American Laser Center. A little whinning won't hurt  ;D

Hiee,

I bought and payed for a block of 10 treatments at about 1200.00. One thing you should be aware of is this. An upfront quality laser clinic should spend between 25 and 30 minutes actually lasing you with the machine. Prep and after care is seperate in respect to time. My clinic has averaged about 22 minutes per session with me, and considering that I am also paying nearly 60.00 / session for Meladine I am NOT happy about it. The hair follicles that are damaged and NOT destroyed will produce LESS malamine and therefor be harder for the laser to target as they become lighter in color. All of the dark hair I had is now gone but I am left with a fair amount of white and very light gray to contend with. I only have to shave every other or even 3rd day but I can feel it and it is most annoying to me.

Byee,

Where I did my laser it was $450 per visit for full face.....I think I got three visits in before I lost my job so never got to finish it.  I believe the price went down significantly after 3 visits though....
