while I agree in principal, it has shown that there is just too much partisan politics at play. obama bent over backwards to get republican input and support and not one single republican in the house voted in favor of the stimulus.
at this point, the conservatives in our government are pretty much irrelevant, the house is a clear cut democratic majority, and the senate is just shy of a fillabuster proof majority and there are only 22 republican govs left. the state legislatures except for the south are almost all democratic majorities now too.
the democrats don't NEED the republicans at all, but yet they are still trying their hardest to bring them along. the state legislatures are all anxiously awaiting these federal funds along with just about every governor.
